Custom foot orthotics can be useful to help treat a number of conditions ranging from more common concerns like plantar fasciitis or metatarsalgia, to more complex foot deformities such as conditions like Charcot foot or diabetic foot ulcers, which require a specialized set of skills to appropriately address.
Our team of Certified Orthotists and Chiropodists have the knowledge, experience and skills to create a "unique to you" custom foot orthotic design that addresses your concerns and to best accommodate those specific conditions. Your experience is your own, and our ability to think outside of the box means that we can work with you to determine the best possible solution to meet your individual needs.)
Your first appointment will include a discussion about your history and your goals, as well as a comprehensive biomechanical assessment. This appointment can take 30-45 minutes to complete.
If we deem orthotics to be the most appropriate course of treatment, a cast of your feet will be taken
The quality of the device starts with capturing a quality shape cast. Casting your feet gives us an exact replica for us to start working from. The materials that the orthotics are made of are chosen based on your physical characteristics, biomechanical needs and footwear preferences. Our foot orthotics are made from either vacuum forming these materials to the cast, or from a carver controlled by a computer (CNC machine).
The custom foot orthotics are then fit to your shoes at the second appointment typically one week after the assessment. Your orthotics may take a week or two to fully adjust before being able to wear them full-time. Our custom foot orthotics come with a two year warranty, so you can be rest-assured you're covered if you have any issues with wear & tear, issues with comfort, or symptom relief, free of charge.
Guelph Orthotics has the right experience, the right technology, and the right commitment to patient-centric clinical excellence. We're eager to help you achieve your goals.
